I'm John Driver, owner of Dark Bench Works — a veteran-owned small business in New Port Richey, Florida, producing high-resolution 3D-printed aftermarket parts, ground equipment, and diorama accessories for scale aircraft modelers in 1/72, 1/48, and 1/32.
The details I make aren't guesses from reference photos. I spent 22 years in the United States Air Force as an Electronic Warfare Systems Specialist on the A-10, F-4, and F-16, with later service as a 2T2 Air Transportation Specialist. When I model a safety pin, a set of engine covers, or an ECM pod cradle, I'm working from equipment I handled on the flight line — the real thing, not an approximation.
That flightline experience sits on top of a career in precision manufacturing. For 21 years I worked in the exacting world of laser glass — running a glass melting facility and later as an operations manager — where tolerances are measured in fractions and "close enough" doesn't exist. I bring that same standard to the bench: every part is modeled in CAD, then printed, cleaned, cured, inspected, and packed in-house right here in Florida. Nothing sits in an overseas casting queue, and every set carries a part number, revision control, and a documented process.
Dark Bench Works is deliberately a small shop. I'd rather earn a reputation for quality than chase volume — building a focused catalog of parts I'd be proud to put on my own models. Thanks for taking a look.
